MARTY reading the letter in the rain. JOE FLAHERTY in the background.

MARTY
(Reading)
Dear Marty. If my calculations are correct, you should receive this letter just after seeing the deloreon struck by lightning. I'm writing this letter to tell you NOT to come back and get me. No matter what! All you need to know is that I'm alive and well working as a blacksmith in the year 1885.
(Not Reading)
1885! He alive! Doc's Alive. He's in the old west, but he's alive! I've gotta go back to the future.

EXT. GRAVEYARD
MARTY next to Doc Brown's Tombstone

MARTY
I can't go back to the future! This tombstone says gonna get killed by Mad Dog Tannen. I've got to go back for him.

STOCK: Delorean travels back in time.

EXT. WILD WEST TOWN
MARTY looking for DOC in desert.

MARTY
(Shouting and Searching)
Doc! Doctor Emmett Brown? Doc?

DOC
(off screen)
Marty!

MARTY
(Big smile)
Doc.

MARTY turns around and his shot in the chest. He goes down on all fours bleeding into the dirt. Doc is revealed holding a large gun. He takes his eye away from the sight and rest the gun on his hip.

DOC
Marty. I specifically told you not to come back here but to go directly back to 1985? But do you listen? Nooooo!
MARTY
Doc, we're on our third film, I never listen to you.

DOC
Do you realize how hard it was to get that letter to you? No reputable establishment would keep a letter in their possession for 100 years waiting to deliver it to a specific spot in the middle of nowhere during a thunderstorm. I had to hire character actor Joe Flaherty to do it, and that wasn't an easy task since he isn't born for another 56 years.

MARTY
But Doc...Tannen.

DOC
I don't have time to explain the details. The point is you dumb kid, time travel is much to dangerous and I can't have you mucking up the timestream anymore. Seriously, that whole gray's sports almanac thing really pissed me off. Waste of a perfectly good adventure. The hoverboard scene was fun....but that's not the point. I'm sorry Marty, but you left me know choice. There is no possible reason on the planet for you to have disobeyed my letter. NO REASON AT ALL!

TANNEN
(Off Screen)
Hey Blacksmith.

DOC
What do you want Tannen?

DOC is shot in in the forehead.

DOC
Oh I see.

DOC falls down dead.
